John Kinsella who did the digital compositing CRE514 module last semester posted this on YouTube the other day. It’s a Camera Tilt and shift in After Effects test. It works really well between 00:12 and 00:55. Toy Town style.

Probably the best book I’ve evr come across on animation. I ALWAYS have this open when animating in either 2d or 3d. Here;s is an animation I found of his cover logo… he’s is just a genius!!!!

Check out his series of animation lessonns from the Animator’s Survival Guide also on YouTube…. there are around 20 of them and they are all important for anyone considering animation projects.

Book available here on Amazon also. Just get it!

Nano house design inspiration: designbuzz 10 nano house designs.

In these times of uncertainty setting up a proper office space to work from has become a priority of mine.. Been looking at kitting out something over the next few months…. Monopods are looking like a really cool way of working if you have space but I think the spatial ideals set out in their designs are equally valid inside pre built spaces.

…Fuck that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head.

You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don’t owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission, don’t even start asking for theirs.”

Banksy wisdom. I really like this guy and his philosophy but I can’t help feeling one of these days it’s all going to get irksome to me.

Just thought I’d give you a look at the final shots of the robot. It is being used as a teaching tool today so that’s the end of that. If I ever get time over then next while I may finish it off and make it a full robot rig. I don’t get time for such unnecessary divertions these days however. I may be able to convince myself it is usefull for something…. I mean I have the plans and skteches all done for it already…

Got some time on the model again tonight so I decided to do a render of the update.

Eyes are now in place and rigged to the whole thing. A silly looking brain in water has been added to the glass top of the character. I’d prefer to have something better in there- a brain is way to obvious but it fills the space for now.

There has been some updates to the rigging system too to ease the animation process.

Mental Ray proceedural textures have been tweaked a little and some proper hand made detailed textures added. I doubt I’ll get time to finish this really but if I get time I’ll add to it over the new month or so until I get bored looking at it.

Nothing on telly so I decided to make a drawing that I had drawn in 3d. This is a quick test of the head rigging of it with just stand-in textures from Mental Ray’s bank. I haven’t rigged the eyes yet as I’m not sure where I’ll go with them- I may put a pair of steam-punk goggles on there. I also have some morphing stuff going on on the mouth but I think I’ll leave that out and keep it hard bodied…. there’ss enough expressions I think with the current range of movement.

The wee glass thing at the top I intend on putting a little cartoony creature or something that floats in water that will control his….erm…. brain or something.

Don’t fancy doing the sound for this guy. He may never be completed if the Telly box gets better.
