Got some time on the model again tonight so I decided to do a render of the update.

Eyes are now in place and rigged to the whole thing. A silly looking brain in water has been added to the glass top of the character. I’d prefer to have something better in there- a brain is way to obvious but it fills the space for now.

There has been some updates to the rigging system too to ease the animation process.

Mental Ray proceedural textures have been tweaked a little and some proper hand made detailed textures added. I doubt I’ll get time to finish this really but if I get time I’ll add to it over the new month or so until I get bored looking at it.

Nothing on telly so I decided to make a drawing that I had drawn in 3d. This is a quick test of the head rigging of it with just stand-in textures from Mental Ray’s bank. I haven’t rigged the eyes yet as I’m not sure where I’ll go with them- I may put a pair of steam-punk goggles on there. I also have some morphing stuff going on on the mouth but I think I’ll leave that out and keep it hard bodied…. there’ss enough expressions I think with the current range of movement.

The wee glass thing at the top I intend on putting a little cartoony creature or something that floats in water that will control his….erm…. brain or something.

Don’t fancy doing the sound for this guy. He may never be completed if the Telly box gets better.

Nice bit of a presentation whether you agree or not…

DES312- So combining the heirarchical linking, IK/FK cog based wire params and piston controllers covered so far this is all possible. I’ll get a bit of time on spring based controllers for cables but it probably won’t be until later in the project timeline.

Information and latest on the SOPA debacle hitting Ireland currently. Sean Sherlock, hilariously the Minister for Innovation in Ireland,  is trying to enact a bill in the Oireachtas that will essentially allow censorship of the internet and limit your access to information on the web. Don’t let this happen. It is the only free medium left…. it will go the way of TV, Newspapers and the radio where a select elite and a luddite government will control what we can and can’t see. The cost of public broadcast and the illegality of broadcasting without a government sanctioned license and will mean the voice of anyone else will be unheard.
